Victorian Dollhouse

This is a 1/12 scale wooden model of a late Victorian era house. As with many of my projects I started with an off-the-shelf kit. Of course, I didn’t like many things about the kit so over about 10 years I redesigned most of the structure to make it bigger and more realistic. I added all working doors and windows, appropriate floor and wall coverings, fancy ceiling treatments, custom interior trim, copper roofing, and a new chimney. I decked out the interior with hundreds of scale items, many of which were purchased and then modified to suit my vision. I also scratch-built a significant number of the detail items. I designed and installed an electrical system to support the house lighting and a computer-controlled sound system to narrate a story about the house and give specific details on each room.

  1. John, I am a friend of Peg’s from Parchment days and attended your wedding! You do totally amazing work! My cousin in the UK collects antique tractors and I know he would love your Ferguson model! My daughter took me to a miniature museum in Kansas City the last time I visited her in Columbia. I hope you have plans to either sell or donate the items you have made as they are definitely museum quality. Beautiful!! Lori L-F
